Men's Wedding Bands (Peter W Beck)
Men's wedding bands by Peter W Beck
A men's wedding band is a piece you'll wear every day for decades. Comfort matters. Durability matters. The right metal matters. Peter W Beck specialises in men's wedding bands the way some manufacturers specialise in engagement rings, and the depth of options reflects that. We carry the full range at our Glenelg showroom.

Choosing the right metal
The metal choice for a men's wedding band changes how it looks, how it wears, and how durable it is.
- Gold. 18ct or 9ct, in yellow, white or rose. Classic, warm, traditional, with a recognised value. White gold needs rhodium plating every few years. 18ct gold is denser and more durable than 9ct.
- Platinum. Heavier, denser, naturally white, hypoallergenic. The premium metal, with weight on the finger to match. Doesn't need rhodium plating.
- Titanium. Light, strong, hypoallergenic, modern. Almost weightless on the finger, and noticeably contemporary in look. Excellent for active wearers.
- Tungsten. Extremely hard, scratch-resistant, dark silvery-grey. The most durable metal we sell. Trade-off: tungsten can't be resized, so sizing has to be exact at purchase.
- Zirconium. Black or naturally grey, very hard, very contemporary. A distinctive, modern look that suits clients who specifically want a non-traditional band.
- Palladium. Lighter than platinum but with similar properties. Naturally white, hypoallergenic. A premium alternative for those who want platinum's qualities at less weight.
Width and profile
The width and profile of the band shape how it looks and how it feels on the hand.
Width. Popular widths for men's bands range from 4mm (slim) through 6mm (standard) to 8mm or more (substantial). The right width depends on hand and finger size, personal preference and how the band sits with everyday wear.
Profile.
- Court profile, rounded on the inside and outside. Smooth, comfortable, classic. The most popular profile for everyday wear.
- D-shape profile, flat on the inside, rounded on the outside. Slightly more traditional, with a definite edge.
- Flat profile, flat both sides. Modern, architectural, contemporary.
- Comfort fit, rounded on the inside specifically to reduce friction against the finger. Excellent for everyday wear.
- Beveled profile, with chamfered edges. Adds visual interest while staying comfortable.
Finish
Polished. Bright, mirror-like, classic. Shows light beautifully but also shows everyday wear sooner.
Satin or brushed. Soft sheen, hides minor scratches, contemporary. The most popular finish for men's bands in the last decade.
Hammered. Textured, distinctive, hand-finished look. Suits those who want a band with personality.
Combination. Mixed finishes (a polished centre with brushed edges, or vice versa) for visual interest.
Engraving
We can engrave the inside (or, less often, the outside) of any Peter W Beck wedding band we sell. Popular engravings:
-
Wedding date
-
Partner's name or initials
-
Personal message or quote
-
Coordinates, with the wedding venue location
Engraving is done by our on-site engraver. Standard inside engraving is included with the purchase of the band.
Coming in to try them on
We strongly recommend an in-person appointment for men's wedding bands. The difference between widths, profiles and metals is genuinely difficult to feel from photos. Most clients try on six to ten options before settling on the right one. Book an appointment and we'll talk you through the full range.
